Will gladly take assistance from anyone who has the information, or can
point me in the correct direction.
My great aunt and uncle lived on a Gentleman's Farm somewhere in the area
of Minerva and Carrollton. I am not sure whether or not Minerva is even
in the same county. If it is still there I would like to have some
pictures of it.
Their names were Ila Marshall and Daniel M Cronin and they owned the farm
until after Dan's death in the 30s. She probably sold the farm in the
late 40s when she moved to California. This wasn't their only home, but
one to which Ila went in the summertime mainly, I think.
The farm was about 120-160 acres and on a rural road. The house itself
was very large for then and back at the rear of a long U shaped driveway.
The house had a four or five car garage set off to the right of the
house and above that lived a couple who took care of the farm. I
remember that they (Ila and Dan) raised Newfoundlands and there were
always a couple of them there when we visited. There were various
animals around and they mainly raised Hereford cattle.
Both were from the East Liverpool area originally and in the pottery
business. Dan was killed when thrown from a horse. Ila served one term
in the Ohio state House of Representatives. No children. She and her
sister sort of shared her sister's children, so she was a great part of
my life as my mother was the eldest and closest one to the two of them.
Thanks.
