Dear List,

Several of you have asked for more information and thanks to Lois a
wonderful suggestion was made. She asked for the list of contents so
here it is:

1. It Began With a Trail (this covers the Native Americans and the Great
Trail)
2. Taming the Land (this covers the first settlers to each of the towns
in Carroll County)
3. The Canal Era and a New County (The Sandy-Beaver of course and the
founding of Carroll County)
4. All Aboard! (the railroads)
5. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic (Covers the schools from the one-rooms
to present)
6. One God, Many Faiths (covers all churches past and present)
7. The Civil War Years (covers the war, the McCooks, John Morgan,
etc...)
8. The Turn of the Century (covers the beginning of a lot of different
industries, building of roads, things like that)
9. All Work and No Play.... Never! (this chapter talks about the parks,
campgrounds, golf courses, restaurants...)
10. Here and Now (just about anything that was left that covers current
day things)

I also received my case of books today so if you're unable to get a copy
and really want one, let me know. I have 30 available and they are
$24.99. I do know that Gordon's has some in stock, but the Welsh Horn is
now taking orders as she sold out. Others have mentioned that they are
having problems acquiring copies from the two websites and I'm not sure
why.

Hope this information helps. I apologize for not thinking to be more
specific in my previous email.

Janice Lane

P.S. If you are trying to look it up on the Arcadia website, be sure to
use Janice E. Lane as author name. And be sure to be specific on the
title if doing a title search. It's "Carroll County, A Place to Call
Home".
