CODY CHARLES COOK

1993-2004

As some may remember in the spring of this year a small group of members and the Lee Twp Trustees worked to restore the Greenhill Cemetery in Lee Twp.

Among those that helped was a young boy named Cody Charles Cook who came with his grandfather Dick Walters.

Cody was a joy, he drag brush that was much larger then himself, probed for buried headstones and bases. He worked like a little trooper. Much to my surprise I turned to see him working with a tire iron at getting a broken piece of stone out of a base. I said, " Cody you can't get that our of there and he replied that he had gotten it out of another base. Upon looking sure enough he had. I ask, "How did you do that? He said if he only had a hammer it would make it much easier.

Cody was in luck for I had just that in my van. So off we went to get the hammer. Upon raising the back of my van his eyes lit up at all the tools I had brought along. To a young boy it probably looked like a candy store.

If you asked Cody to do something he was right there. He worked at a job till it was done.

Shirley Anderson had baked some brownies and brought along. A few were left and she ask Cody if he would like some more before she left. Cody held out both hands and Shirley filled them up. He turned to Susan Borland who was standing near and ask if she would like a brownie. After taking one look at his hands Susan declined the brownies. Funny but all of us suddenly where full and Cody enjoyed all the brownies himself.

It is with a very sad heart that I must tell you Cody was killed in a ATV accident October 3, 2004. Cody maybe gone be we all feel we were blessed to have known him if it was only for one day.
