Hi - Regarding the below message. FYI - Stark County District Library
[Canton] has Ohio Death Index to 1954 and death records to 1944; they are in process
of obtaining records to 1954.
Unfortunately, the Index is not online. If you get the certificate number
for a death record, you can order from the library at a very nominal fee -
typically $1 for copy and postage. They mail the copy along with an invoice.
You can order copy of death record via their website:
http://www.starklibrary.org/genealogyservices.html
Just go to lower section and click on Request Forms and choose Death Records.
If you are fortunate enough to live near Canton you can view the Index to get
certificate number. I'm not sure they will look up deaths out of Stark
County for you but they will copy death record with a certificate number for any
Ohio county. You might try requesting death certificate from them if you have
actual death date. The staff is excellent and quick to respond.

>>Just recieved this and thought I would pass it along.
Hi
Thought I would pass this along to all who are researching Ohio deaths:
Ohio Historical Society online death index now covers 1913-1944. They have
updated the site with these new years added. Previously it covered up to 1937.
Also be advised that as of Oct 1, 2005 the new fee for ordering vital records
certificates cost $16.50! This is for Ohio only.
