Subject: [OHCHAMPA] Naturalization in 1898
Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2007 14:27:13 -0800 (PST)
Hello,
I'm researching my great grandfather, Natale (Charlie)
Andreoni. One of the few documents I have on him is a
short notice that was published in the town paper (St.
Marys, Ohio) about a year after his death.
Natale was born in Italy. The notice says that "he was
naturalized in probate court of Champaign county in
1898."
Was this normal for the time? I know naturalization
was federalized in the early 1900s. Would a
naturalization record (and application) exist still?
Where and how could I get a copy of all the records
and documents?
Thanks,
Brian Clark
