I purchased a book for Amelia, Clermont County and thot I would type
some stuff for ya.

Pictured:

The Nellie and Arthur MATTOX home in the 1930's just east of the old
Amelia State Bank. When the Amelia High School was erected in 1930,
theis house was moved west of the bank between Green's Restaurant and
Carlos HUTSON's house. They are all gone now and the Clermont Savings
Bank is n this location at 5 west main st.

The following poem written by an earlier resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Flora
MATTOX, was read many years ago in New YOrk by Grant Marshall, an actor
and producer and former resident of Ohio, at a meeting of the "Ohio
Club". It was published by the "Times Star" newspaper and expressed her
love of early Amelia.......

"THE LITTLE TOWN IN OHIO"

Sometimes I go to the mountains,
Sometimes i go to the sea.
But a little town in Ohio
Is very much more to me.

I have traveled in many countries
In quest of a change and a rest.
But the little town in Ohio
Is the spot that i love the best.

I have bathed in the beautiful ocean,
and have crossed it's waters wild
To the little town in Ohio
I returned like a tired child.

And now that the daylight is waning
and shadows begin to creep,
In the little town in Ohio
At eve may i quietly sleep.

Hope that helps Janice.
