Subject: Brown Co Oh'S NAMESAKE GEN BROWN
Date: Sun, 08 Nov 1998 08:38:24 EST
War of 1812 General JACOB BROWN was namesake of 1818 BROWN CO OH. He was
from further north-maybe even Browntown s Detroit,,,,,,Mich, where our
forces was defeated. He was a descendant of George and MERCY BROWN,who
were married about 1680 about the PA-DEL line and then moved up-river 100
miles to manage WM PENN'S Manor in the great bend of the Delaware River.
Non Quaker themseles, most,or all their children married the nearby FALLS
QUAKER mEETING, FALLSTON, BUCKS CO,Pa. I'm missing a period, but an
edcated guess is that the General's line were Loyalist 1776,an movved
to Ontario,Canada 1780's just across the Detroit River from
Brownstown,Mich. Clermont's Brownstown ,or the MOORE'S fORK Brown' just
north may hae been of GEORGE and Mercy.
