Hello all,
I could use some help locating a WILLIAM COX b.abt 1811
William was said to be a Schoolteacher that taught in a log cabin
along the Ohio River, near New Richmond, and was scalped by Indians.
He married NANCY ANN OWENS 6-18/23-1836 in Mason Co.,KY
Children: Catherine Cox b.1835 PA, W.J.Cox b.1837 OH,
Freelove Cox 1842-1880 OH, Albert Cox b.1843 OH, Matilda Cox b.1846 OH
William must of died after Matilda was born, Nancy Ann Owens
remarried to a Samuel Bennington abt 1847.,and settled in Adams Co.,OH
Nancy Ann Owens 6-21-1813~6-18-1894, b.in KY
My Freelove Cox is said to be related to James Middleton Cox that
was Governor of Ohio 2-3 terms and ran for president in 1920.
Freelove is also said to be half Cherokee, the copied photo I have of
her, she looks Indian.
Any info would certainly be welcome, as you can see I have very little
of a profile on William, and could use any help.
Thanks.
Sue Sisk
