John,I found 2 Bantam fair tickets at different times, and places. That's
been 30 years,but
think the dates were about 1850. One of mine was donated to Bethel's
museum. Other's framed ,and here,someplace.
Bob Slade's edition of 1970+ of Thiery and Mitchell's 1902 history has
Jim Fitzpatrick's band
photographed in front of Floral Hall ,and my Fagley uncles,b 1890-95 as
musicians,if not dad,b 1898.
So,1910? MMom won ticket's to Barnum's Circus while at Bantam
Elementary,and she was b 1901.
My parents,I think, both attended Bantam fair. Fairs ran at more than
one place. 'Boston Fire" is how my parents talked of somebody
mentioning the Owensville Fair. Evert's 1880 history devotes several
pages to the fair.
I started riding Bus 7 with little Jerry White,in 1944,and the Floral
Hall was visable over grubs then. Plus,Riddlebarger
used the ticket office,on the highway,to sell ice balls to Star Light
movie goers about 1950.
Lake Allen did not exsist til the C,G,AND P RR was built about 1878 [?] .
