Peter Conover wrote a NJ shore will before James Matlack,Jr in 1812.
His 3rd wife,and survivor,and immigrant to Clermont Co's sw Tate
township,was a Jemima Smith,dau of John Smith and Sarah Higbee. ,and
sister of Noah Smith.
Jemima Smith Conover had 7 acres south of Old Bethel Methodist that was
later owned by
Sippy Smith. Nacky,or Ashcah Smith,lived there in 1846,when she married
JohnWilliams.
These NJ shore Methodists had started a Methodist church at Smithville,NJ
SEVERAL YEARS [1798] before their 1803 migration here to found Old Bethel
in 1807.100+ families of them migrated 1803-30's
