Legandary Run is a huge subdivision-golf course built in the past 20
years on the huge Marvin Warner horse farm, which,in turn, was a
combination of
several earlier farms. ]Fred Lipps,Joe Nobis, Joel Behymer, George
Duckwall, Bradbury
and others]. It covers [maybe] 1000 acres north, and north east of Locust
Corner. Note that's 2 of the 3
names I mentioned guessing at families Mary H. lived with. Joel Behymer
and George Duckwall .
I was in the Warner-Duckwall-Bradbury brick, and in the barn of the
adjoining Joel Behymer-
Joe Nobis brick.
Marvin was ambassador to Switzerland under Pres Carter, but his Home
State Savings and Loan
empire fell apart during the high interest rates era at the end of
Carter. Management invested
Home State funds in a bogus Florida firm that failed, leading to the
failure of Home State. The old
houses remained under Warner's ownership, but are now gone.
The village and school are still called Locust Corner, and I suppose the
modern post office
is Cincinnati.
Evert's 1880 history has bios of George Duckwall and Chapman Archer-the
last telling of him dividing his
10 Mile hills among [?] 10 Germanic families, for vineyards. Diseases
eliminated the grapes and
wine making, and 50-100 years ago, apples were grown. Jim Nobis was the
last apple grower,in the 1960's. Legandary Run bargined for,but never
bought,Jim Nobis's home farm,which was the Ward's. It's to the west of
Locust Corner,at the break of the hill.
