Hey, Dick: reference the following excerpt from your e-mail; I have a J.D.
Brown who wed Amanda Louisa (Mattie ) Ross; she born 19 Aug 1845 in South
Bend, IN. Any intelligence on those people?
"James Brown was a witness to 1813 sale, as - - -"

Subject: [OHCLER] Sorry About That
> Dear Site:
> I apologize for any "clutter" I have placed on the site.
> Further, I have something to really apologize about. To attempt to
"catch" a person that is always using, word for word, some of my humble
research efforts and findings, BUT ALWAYS CHANGES ONE EVENT, OR ONE PERSON,
OR ONE DATE, evidently to make something "fit" in their own scheme of
things, I committed a crime for genealogy; - - - - - - - I changed one date,
and only one date, on purpose. This, in that way too long message of a
couple of days ago, "addressed" to "Marsha, and - - - - - - (which meant, to
all of the others also)". Anyway:
> Elizabeth, wife of John Custer (died 1812 Hamilton Co Ohio), buried in
Clermont Co, has on her tombstone, "Died Feb 1829", and NOT 1812. Anyone who
has stood before said stone knows that. (It also does not say 1824).
> All of the rest of the contents of said too long message, are correct
results of my research efforts, and with no "on purpose" changes. Do I make
mistakes? Oh, YES!!!!!
> Did I receive the "correct" response? Yes. Again, sorry to have
bothered this way way above average site.
> For the "general" Brown info: When John Short Sr purchased his first
land in Clermont Co Ohio, although having been north of the Ohio several
times, and stayed, in 1813 he puchased 150 acres from John and Margaret
Brown of Mason Co Ky. These Browns had been up in Clermont Co, but had moved
back. Mason Co Ky had been a large county, coming from a large county,
Bourbon, in 1788, each containing many of the later/present counties. When
John Short Sr, and his brother Isaac Short Sr, arrived in Mason Co in 1797,
it contained 15 present counties. Of the 150 acres purchased from John and
Margaret Brown, in 1813, John Short Sr would sell ,1814, 50 acres to his
widowed sister in law, Dorcus Short ( of Isaac Short Sr died 1814). This
remaining 100 acres would be the home place of John Short Sr family, and his
private burial cemetery, up to and through the couple of acres kept by his
son's ( William Short) widow, in 1846. Here is the location of the Short
Cemetery ( incorrectly in
> 1950/1970's "called" the "Wheeler/Short Cemetery" by a DAR listing
because they were attempting to verify the burial places of the two Rev War
Veterans, John Short Sr, and John Wheeler, buried there; and even then
listed part of the info incorrectly.) James Brown was a witness to 1813
sale, as was John Short Sr son, Jacob Short. Later, John Short Sr son,
Samuel Short would also purchase land from these same Browns, 100 acres
adjoining John Short Sr land on the south, witnessed by Samuel Short
brother, William, and others.
> I have never had cause to research these Browns, but maybe someone is
interested in these Browns of Clermont Co Ohio and Kentucky?
> Sorry, as this message is too long also.
> Take care. Regards, Dick
