I am looking for information on the early Quaker's of Clinton County circa
1800 - 1870.
I have found one of my people as belonging to the Quaker faith. Her name was
Leviecy Unthank. She was born on Oct. 4, 1804 in North Carolina. Her family
moved to Clinton County in 1809. On July 28, 1825, she married James Steel
Taylor born in 1884 in Chester County Penn. James Steel Taylor moved to
Clinton County in 1816.
Leviecy "Unthank" Taylor died on Oct. 15, 1850 in or near Port Williams,
Liberty Township Clinton County.
James Steel Taylor died between Oct. 5, 1864 and Feb. 20, 1865 in or near
Port Williams, Liberty Township Clinton County.
QUESTIONS: What does "con" mean?
What does "mcd" mean? = married contrary to discipline?
What does "rocf" mean?
I found these next to Leviecy's name in the Dover Monthly Meeting - Ohio
QUESTION: Where the monthly meetings held in the Port Williams area of
Liberty Township Clinton County 1800-1870?
QUESTION: Where would people of the Quaker faith be buried in this area of
Clinton County, 1850-1870? Might have been buried on their farm, but no
notation of that fact exists on the deed of sale of their property, which was
located in Survey #1929 and #1728 very close to Greene County.
Hope someone out there might have some answers to these questions. Thanks in
advance for your help.
Bill - Calif.
