Thanks to all who sent me info. Here's what I used it for: At www.glorecords.blm.gov you can search for land records in many states, including Ohio. They show images of the actual docs granting land by sale or patent. You can search by last name, first name and such (no wild cards), but I found that if you search by township and range you come up with some interesting things. In another county I found land for an ancestor under a spelling I had never thought of trying. When it asks for the direction, the townships in Col. Co. are north and the range is west.
