I am searching for information about MARTINSBURGH or MARTINSBURG on the
Sandy & Beaver Canal.
The "Ohio Patriot" of July 3, 1835 has an article about the public
auctioning of lots. I have found mentioning of it in both Mack's and
Gard's history of Ohio. And the wonderful web pages of Jerry King.
What information I am looking for is; did anyone ever live there, who,
for how long, and who is John F Henderson, William M Davidson, but
especially JAMES McLAUGHLIN that was mentioning in the article as the
proprietors. Is McLaughlin the same man that was supposed to have run
a mill on the West Fork of Beaver Creek? How is he related to the Rev.
War soldier James MacLachlan who is buried at Wayne Bethel
Presby.Cemetery? Anyone know? M Kemp
