I am looking for information about the families of John MASTON and Margaret
MEREDITH who married in 1844 in Coshocton Co, Ohio. After having several
children in Coshocton Co they ended up in Whitley Co, Indiana. John F
Maston was born July 31 1823 died March 29 1910. I have some information
from an obituary of him that suggests that he was born in Pennsylvania (also
the 1880 census). He lost his parents at a young age and may have been
brought up by other members of his family in Ohio. Margaret Meredith was
born 1826 and died Feb 23 1903.



My great grandfather, Aaron Burr Maston, was one of their sons. He left the
US in 1879 for New Zealand and then Australia where he was a preacher in the
Church of Christ. In 1878 he went to Coshocton Co and visited some of his
family. He had an autograph book with him and that has been handed down
through the family. I have found the names of some of the Merediths in it.
The signatures are those of:



(a) J H Meredith - Yankee Ridge, Coshocton Co; He addresses Aaron
as a "cousin"



(b) Salathiel Meredith - Yankey Ridg (sic) Coshocton Co Ohio. He
refers to Aaron as "nephew"



(c) "Job Meredith Age 75"



It is possible that Job was Margaret Maston's father or uncle.



I would be grateful for any information about the Meredith or Maston
families. At least some of the Merediths must have stayed in Coshocton. The
autograph book also contains signatures of Gilbert, Mary and Alvira COPLEN
of Mohawkvilage, Coshocton Co. I have found some references on the Rootsweb
Worldconnect site to a marriage in 1861 between Mary Meredith and Gilbert
Coplen, daughters Alvira and Laura, so I think this is that family.
