Yup, my husband (born and raised Ohioian) says we have to red up the house.
But pop is not just an Ohio word. It is also used here in Missouri.
Will be back in that beautiful state in a few days.

Hi,

Maybe this seems off subject but I loved the use of the word "pop" in the
missive below. I remember when I first used that term to a non-Ohioan,
they didn't know what I meant! My PA born husband has cured me of saying
"pop" and now I say "soda" but I miss "pop."

There's a phrase my mother used to say to us kids when she wanted us to
clean up our mess in the house. She'd say "Let's read up." (Pronounced
like "red.") We knew what it meant but when I grew up, no one else knew.
>From the wisdom of my years (LOL), I think maybe it was short hand for
let's ready up the house. Has anyone else ever heard this phrase, and,
just to somehow tie it into genealogy : ), what ethnic group would use it?

Even if you don't know the answers to that question, here's another: What
are some other Ohio-isms? My ears are hungry for them!

Thanks,
Yvonne
