Hi. I am new to the list and probably breaking all of
your rules with this post. However, I beg your
forgiveness as a newbie.
I have spent weeks researching information on my
g.g.grandfather. I was excited to find the Crawford,
County site, but was not able to post a query to it.
Anyway, my g.g. grandfather was Jacob Baker. He was
born in 1846 in Wittenburg, Germany. I don't know how
his family ended up in Germany as they were supposedly
English. I also have no information on how Jacob ended
up in Ohio, other than the fact that he was tied into
the family of Adam and Catherine Bowers who lived in
Chatfield Township. He may have been an indentured
servant. I don't know.
When he enlisted with the 12th Ohio Volunteer Calvary
on 10/1/1863 at Bucyrus, he listed Adam Bowers as the
recipient of his personal effects in the event of his
death.
He didn't die in the war, however, and married a woman
named Amanda Becker Awe on 10/29/1867.
Does anyone have any information?
