List,
Like I said before, I haven't seen ANY documentation to connect the
sheep stealers to our Phillip George. But, the will of Michael Meyer naming
his son-in-law Phillip George, and the dau. of Phillip George (Anna Maria
who later m. a Sprung), coupled with the rich family tradition in the Lake
Odessa area that even my grandmother recounted that Joseph George and John
Meyer were 1st cousins that married sisters, Cathreen Reimer and Sarah
(Sally) Reimer is more than sufficient.
My grandmother was b. in 1898 and was always aware of the Meyer-George
relationship in this small community, especially since there was a double
connection.
I suppose we are researching different Phillip Georges, but the one
I'm documenting is the one that buried his brother John George right next to
him, and they are sons of Phillip George and Margaretha Meyer. Margaretha
Meyer's brother Valentine Meyer was the father of John Meyer of Lake Odessa.
Valentine lived in Texas Twp. Crawford Co., OH, on the border of Seneca Co.,
OH, and is buried in the White Chapel Cem. in Melmore, Eden Twp., Seneca
Co., OH.
I'm familiar with your research Kathleen, too. And, I remember the
time you didn't have a clue to the origins of this George family. Your
family stories and traditions have grown over time. Sudden memory, maybe.
Marc
