Message Board Post:
I am looking for information for Henry EMES and wife Hannah (MOHR) and sons Elias B. Henry, and John EMES who moved to Bucyrus Ohio from Reading, Berks Co PA in abt 1853. A daughter, Mary EMES, was born in Ohio abt 1861. Son Elias B EMES (born 1845) was in the 34th Regt Co E, Ohio in the Civil War. Father Henry EMES, born 1820, was a son of Henry EMES and Catherine MATTHIAS of Berks Co PA.
After the Civil War, the EMES family moved to Marshall County Iowa. Both Henry (died 1901) and Hannah (died 1888) are buried in the Albion Cemetery, Albion, Marshall Co IA.
Can anyone help me locate this family on the 1860 Census in Ohio? And also tell me what Reformed or Churches are in the area of Bucyrus and if records are available? (Henry's parents were married at First Reformed Church in Reading, so I am hoping his son's family stayed with the Reformed Church in Ohio.) A daughter, Mary EMES, was shown on the IA 1870 census to be age 9 and born in Ohio. So she would have been born abt 1861. Can anyone help me find a church record of her birth/baptism in the Crawford Co area of Bucyrus?
Hannah MOHR EMES was a sister of my gr2grandmother Charlotte K MOHR SAVAGE.
Thank you for any assistance. Diana Quinones in AL at .
