Hello Listers -
I thought this information from the President of the
Crawford County Chapter might be of interest to you.
Frances
The project of getting the second veteran's book
written has gone very well, and we appreciate the
interest expressed in this project. The Genealogy
Chapter thinks honoring these men and women is of
highest importance, and with the present Iraq war we
certainly have the chance to see how much we owe these
people for our own freedom. We have spent money of
our own to mail letters to the people who purchased
books the last time, but we can't mail letters to
everyone in the county, we are a volunteer group.
Comments come from many applicants about how they live
in many other states and how our members send messages
to them about the project and how much they appreciate
it. Thank you for helping us get the word out.
Mary Fox, President of Crawford Co. Genealogy
Chapter

HONORING VETERANS - Military stories needed at no
charge, the project is free, and it is a great way to
honor service men and women. The only requirement is
at some point in their life they resided in Crawford
County Ohio. The Crawford County Genealogy Society has
received great support for the second military book.
The war in Iraq has added a whole new chapter to be
written about since the project began a few months
ago.
We are asking everyone to mail in their stories, or if
they have one to be written, please do so very soon.
Presently, we have received more World War Two stories
than in the other wars and encourage people to try and
find records for every war. The first book didnt
have a large section of World War One stories, and yet
there are many people living that could write a story
about their parents or relatives that served in that
war. We do want stories about every war or conflict,
of course.
The book is for veterans and servicemen and women from
Crawford County Ohio and the book has a special
section for everyone, even if they did not serve in a
certain war or conflict. The book will have around
800 stories and when it is filled, the project will be
over. After the first book was published, people
lamented they did not take the opportunity to
contribute a story. Volunteers are now working on
this second book, and everyone should take seriously
the project of adding their family stories. They will
be typed and returned for proofreading before being
placed in the book and all pictures are returned.
The first veterans book Liberty Remembers is for
sale at the following places, as well as the forms for
the project. The Pelican in Bucyrus, Crestline
Advocate, Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce, Winnie
Kleinknecht (419-462-5693), Mary Fox, 931 Marion Rd.
