Hi Barbara,

It seem is got a bit confused and posted a reply to you under Linda Cammaroto's replies instead of your original post. So, please see the census information I put there.

I found two more pieces which may be of use to you from Heritage Quests' books on-line.

History of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties : with illustrations and biographical sketches.
Cleveland: H.Z. Williams & Bro., 1882, 1163 pgs.
Vol. II: Townships and villages of Mahoning County, Ohio
Chapter XIII Smith (Township)
p. 200
"... Gideon Hoadley, with his wife and children, settled in the township in 1823. ..."

(My comment - Mahoning County was formed out of Columbiana and Trumbull counties in 1846)

Commemorative biographical record of northwestern Ohio : including the counties of Defiance, Henry, Williams and Fulton, containing biographical sketches of prominent and representative citizens, and of many of the early settled families.
Chicago: J.H. Beers & Co., 1899, 618 pgs.

BIOGRAPHICAL
p. 376 ERASTUS HOADLEY
..
" Mr. Hoadley was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, January 3, 1833, a son of Hiram and Elizabeth (Davis) Hoadley, the mother being of Welsh birth. His paternal grandparents were Gideon and Sarah (Storm) Hoadley, the former of Welsh, and the latter of Scotch descent. The grandfather, who was a native of Connecticut, died in Columbiana county, Ohio; the grandmother also died there at the extreme old age of one hundred and four years. Their children were: Harvey, who died in Stark county, Ohio; Ebenezer, who died in Indiana; Erastus, who died in the War of 1812; Hiram, the father of our subject; Mrs. Mary Hadley; Mrs. Clarinda Borland; Mrs. Matia Ditcheon. ..."

"Hiram Hoadley passed the days of his boyhood and youth in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, Ohio, and was married in Columbiana county ..."

Hopefully they have some information which will help you along with Linda Cammaroto's contributions and the census records I found.

It seems that the Harvey she found in Auburn Twp., Crawford County, in 1850 and 1870 is a different one from the one I found in Smith Twp., Mahoning County in 1850 and 1860.

Happy hunting,
Linda
