Hi Group,
I knew that my husband's great-grandmother had died in Cleveland, I'd
already had her burial information from Calvary Cemetery. I went online
to check for her certificate no. and volume no. to make it easier for
those at the Society. Her last name was DiCamillo and one can only
imagine the possible mistakes that could be made on recording that name
but try as I might with asterisks and substitute letters her death
certificate wasn't listed online. She died in 1930. I wrote to the
society and asked if they could check for me and sure enough a month
later I had the certificate. The reason it wasn't online was that the
last 3 letter 'llo' were unreadable looking more like 'blo' or 'bdo' I
suspect that the staff had no idea what to list it under. My point being
if you know for sure you have a relative that must be there but is not
online try writing with the information because mistakes did happen and
the certificate may well be there.
Thanks, Cindy
