Robert,
I grew up in Berea in the 60s and 70s, and don't recall the Berea Church, but
I believe the building is still in use by the Berea Jaycees. I do remember
this building; it was right across the street from where I went to junior
high school. It's old and historic, and a group fought to save it when the
road was widened there about 30 years ago. This building is located at 323
E. Bagley Rd., which is probably the address where the church was, as opposed
to "Gabley Rd.", which to my knowledge does not exist. Bagley Rd. is the
main drag through Berea, and connects to Hwy. 42 (Pearl Rd.) as per your
description. In any case, you might want to give the Berea Jaycees a call at
(440) 234-5777 and see if they know anything about the history of this
building.
I also took a peek in the Western Reserve online catalog
<http://www.wrhs.org/searchme.htm> for the book "Walking About Zion" and
found the following:
Title: "Walk about Zion" : an historical discourse delivered Sabbath morning
and evening, July 30, 1876 in the Presbyterian Church, Jersey, Ohio on the
Fifty-Sixth Anniversary of its organization /
Author: Colmery, D. R.
Publication date: 1877.
Location: WRHS Archives Library
Call number: F34X L711Y v.1
Availability: WRHS Archives Library
Finally, for what it's worth, there was a JUSTICE family in Berea when I
lived there, but I don't know whether they were related to your Bruce JUSTICE.
Hope this helps!
