Dr. Ward,
I would love to read your book, I am researching the Rueth (RĂ¼th) Family. my
family has NOT been helpful I seem to be the only one in the family who
cares about our heritage and it is frustrating. I am stuck at a loggerhead!
I found info in the 1910 census about Anton Rueth who was listed as having a
son (18 yrs old) named Edward Rueth but I have been told that there is no
mention of an Anton Rueth (1864 Germany - 1913 Cleveland)Well I have found
no records of Anton on any ship list (he came over in 1885) maybe you might
offer some suggestions. my great grandfather is Edward J. Rueth (Sr. born
1892 or 1893) my grandfather Edward J. Rueth (jr. born 1919 died in 1984?)
and my dad Edward J. RuethIII.
I know all about jr & sr but my great grandfather and his dad Anton are the
ones I need to know about. I am still waiting on Edward Sr. birth
certificate as well no luck!
Thank you !
Lucie

It has many indexes, references to places of origin of persons in the
Greater Cleveland German community, etc. Also it gives detailed info on the
130 German churches in Cuyahoga County, hundreds of clubs,
organizations, etc. Send me your mailing address if you wish a notice when it
appears. I may start publishing it in separate volumes as I finish the major
topics. One is an index with biographical sketches from CLEVELAND UND SEIN
DEUTSCHTUM, an extensive history which appeared in at least 4 volumes bwteen
1897 and 1907 and which has been recently published in
translation---without, howver, the photos of the subjects of the
biographies. My volume will incklude xerox copies of the photos. I have the
origibal German editions with the glossy photos. I do not recognize your
surname LAPP but will check my database of thousands of Greater Cleveland
names for it. I also incklude some info on German communities in surrounding
counties, especially Liverpool (Valley City)

==== OHCUYAHO Mailing List ====
Virus warnings
RootsWeb's mailing lists are filtered and attachments are not allowed. A
virus that is distributed as an attachment will not reach you through a
RootsWeb mailing list.
A recent virus, and several imitations of it, may result in your receiving
an e-mail (or a greeting card) with a virus attached, that appears to come
from RootsWeb or from an address you are familiar with. Some virus will send
a message to all the unread messages in the infected person's mailbox
folders; another will use addresses found in the infected person's address
book. They send messages using a forged address (for instance, using
RootsWeb or the infected person in the return address). The subject line may
be from a message that was recently received, making it even more credible.
While it may appear to come from RootsWeb, that is only an illusion of the
virus -- our address and the subject line is a forgery.
What can you do? Protect yourself by never opening an attachment from
someone you do not know, or that look suspicious. If an unexpected
attachment comes from someone you do know, write to confirm that the
attachment was sent by them prior to opening it. If you have an e-mail from
RootsWeb, and there is an attachment of any kind, don't open it. Use a virus
protection program. Know what viruses are out there so you will recognize
one when if you get it. There are sites that will help you, including those
shown below.
http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/
http://www.stanford.edu/group/partners/hoaxes.shtml
http://kumite.com/myths/
http://www.mcafee.com/centers/anti-virus/default2.asp
http://www.europe.f-secure.com/v-descs/newapt.htm
Remember, if you do not open the attachment, you can not get infected with
the virus. Delete it. Then empty the trash bin to make sure it is gone. If
you are using an e-mail program that stores attachments elsewhere on your
computer, such as Eudora, find it there and delete it too.
