Subject: [OHCUYAHO] In a 20 year genealogy ditch looking for Martin Shrenk
Date: Thu, 6 Jun 2002 12:51:56 -0700 (PDT)

Can anyone help me find my great great great Uncle
Martin Shrenk?

Martin Shrenk/Schrenk was in the Civil War (no
pension)
Co.F, 8th Regiment, Ohio. When he returned home from
the Civil War back to Fremont, Ohio,he
married Cecelia Sidney McCormick born 22 MAR 1830.
They owned a boarding house in the 1st ward, Fremont,
Ohio in 1870. Martin was the Asst. Marshall (1870
Census taker) for Sandusky Co. in 1870. In the 1880
census, Martin and Celia are found in Cleveland,
Cuyahoga Co., OH. I think he was a printer for a
newspaper at the time. Before the Civil War, he and
his brother Martin had several Ohio Whig politial
newspapers and then owned a grocery store for a short
while.

On 9 FEB 1882, Celia married Heman B. Smith (who was
aharness manufacturer and City clerk and then the
Mayor of Fremont,Ohio)in 1888. Heman died 23 OCT 1911
in Fremont, Ohio. Cecelia died 24 OCT 1911. Both
buried in Fremont, Ohio. When did Martin SHRENK die?
I think, he died between 1880-1888 in Cuyahoga Co.,OH.

(Would love to find an obituary and get out of this 20
year search and ditch!)thanks Bonnie
