Subject: [OHCUYAHO] Passenger ships directly from Europe to Cleveland?
Date: Wed, 6 Nov 2002 22:18:31 -0500

Hi:

I was just told by a relative that my great-grandmother, who was living
in Germany, came DIRECTLY to Cleveland, Ohio, landing at the 9th Street
pier in 1898. My question is this. Does anyone know if there were
passenger ships that came directly from Europe to Cleveland, Ohio? I
would assume that if they did so, they came down the St. Lawrence Seaway.
If there were ships that came directly to Cleveland, Ohio, was there a
particular port in Europe that they left from to make that direct trip to
Cleveland? Also, does anyone know if passenger lists survive and where
they would be for a ship coming directly to Cleveland.

I'd appreciate any tips or direction that anyone can offer.

Thanks
Laura Hine
