At last night's meeting Bill Allen brought up the topic of many
states invoking new privacy laws which would lock vital records from
the use of genealogists and other users. He commented that there
should be a way to keep track on all that is going on. Well, I have
discovered that there is.

The Federation of Genealogical Societies in conjunction with the
National Genealogical Society now maintain a website. There are
links for all states and descriptions for all pending actions. As
genealogists and historians it behooves us to maintain a vigilance on
what is transpiring in our favorite states. From time to time it may
very well be appropriate to post items of an urgent nature to this
list.
