Since we are on the subject of churches, I would love to get the baptismal, marriage and funeral records of St. Josephs Church and St. Aloysius church at E. 110th and St Clair. I can't seem to find them on line. I am researching the Wunderle, Gabele, Tressel, Eink and Druckenbrod families from that parish starting about 1830. . Any help would be appreciated.

I am sure my dad will not mind---so long as you give him proper credit. By the way, his database also shows an Independent Evangelical Protestant Church which was not a member of the many branches in the Cleveland area of the early German Evangelical church founded in 1834 which spawned many other branches. I know this because the independent one is where my grandmother was christened in German in 1910. It still exists---you can see it from the freeway.

Thanks to this list for this topic. I admit I hadn't been following the thread until today, when "something" made me read the messages. But several weeks ago the Madison Co. IL (county seat Alton, across the Mississippi from St. Louis) list had a long thread about this issue of which denominations once called German Evangelical ended up where, and where their records are. Being UCC and having trained at Eden Seminary, home of the Evangelical roots of the UCC, I could help sort the Lutherans from that group. But I had no idea a Methodist group was also involved. And my major focus is a g g grandfather who was a Methodist preacher of Dutch descent!
With the Wards' approval, I'd like to copy these last two messages to the Madison Co. list.

Oops, forgot to mention that dad's notes show some of the Erste Deutsche Evangelische Kirche records were supposed to be given to the Western reserve Historical Society by the Willowick church. I suggest you call the WRHS and mention dad's name. Ask for Dr. Grabowski.

Dear Heidi (and Bob),
Many thanks for the information. There certainly is a lot to chew (digest)
in the timeline and explanations that you have provided to the mail list
regarding the church denominations once called German Evangelical et al, on
the Eastside of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County ca. 1900. If this is any example
of the caliber & content of Dr. Robert WARD'S upcoming book, "History of the
Cleveland Germans", it will be a valuable addition to anyone's personal
library or any organization fortunate enough to own a copy.
Now I will get busy and try to apply what you have provided in the way of
direction (leads) and hopefully be able to make a path to the correct church
and location in the Euclid/Glenville area to obtain the much desired
baptismal records for my family history research.
Kudos to Bob for his outstanding resource material and to you, Heidi, for
helping to fill some mighty big shoes.

from Dr. Heidi Ward. .To answer your question as to the possible location of
sources on your German ancestors in the Euclid, Ohio area, you must first
understand the confusion over the term Evangelisch since due to several
mergers the records you seek may be in more than one place. The following
is from Dr. Robert E. Ward's yet unfinished book HISTORY OF THE CLEVELAND
GERMANS. All rights to its publication remnained reserved under copyright

Indeed I'll give credit. It's his due. Besides, someone might want to contact him for more details.
Thanks

Subject: Death index
Hi
I would be interested to find out what records are available to find a death which could have taken place in Cleveland between 1910 and 1913.
Any help greatly appreciated.
