I found a little more info:

Apparently, Mary Schmotzer, the mother of Evelyn Demian and Margaret Marek,
had the maiden name of Sorger. She also had a sister, Theresa Sorger, who
married Joseph Gornik. Joseph and Theresa Gornik had 2 children: Joseph E.
Gornik (your soldier) and Elsie Gornik, who married a Morelli, and had 3 sons:
Neil, Donald and Michael Morelli. Joseph Gornik, Sr. died in 1960. His
wife Theresa was still alive then. The soldier died, unmarried, no children, in
1971 in Cleveland. So, it appears that Mrs. Schmotzer and Mrs. Gornik were
sisters. And it was the soldier's aunt, uncle and cousins to whom he was
writing.

It is possible that the 3 Morelli boys are still living.
