Thank you, Alice, Billy, Diane, Paul, and Ralph for all your help.
Each of you have given me pieces to this puzzle. There appears to be 4 or
perhaps 5 James C. DUNHAMs in this family. Just can't figure this
particular one out.
James C. DUNHAM to Francis/Frances J. GILBERT 15 Dec. 1867 Darke Co., OH.
Where might I find a copy of the original marriage certificate or record?
Diane sent this, who appears to be the one and same except marriage year and
death year are not in proper chronological order.
GILBERT:
Jonathan d. 8-6-1896 age 86-5-6
Eliza Ann w/o J. d. 1-30-1852 age 33y 25d.
DUNHAM: Frances J. w/o J. Dunham d. 3-9-1866 age 24-4-22
******************************************
******************************************
******************************************
Here are the 4 James C. DUNHAMs that I can connect:
1. James C. DUNHAM, Sr., s/o Ross DUNHAM (s/o Joseph DUNHAM & Mary MILLER)
& Sarah ROLL, b 1808-1810; d 1870
Married 1829 Miami Co., OH to (1) Ann/Anna Sands, who died ca 1860.
They had 9 children.
Said to have been a grocer in Ansonia.
Married May 1860 to (2) Mary Jane (KELSEY) BRANDON. (Unknown BRANDON
husband)
They had 2 children...before Mary Jane left him, and said to have taken up
with someone else.
James Sr. was in the Civil War, and his pension papers validate information.
(However, his Civil War records show that his record and that of his son,
James C. DUNHAM, Jr., were confused at one time. James, Sr. returned home,
but his son, James, Jr. died at Andersonville, GA as P.O.W. and another son,
Henry DUNHAM, was also killed in the Civil War.)
Did this James marry again?
********************************************
2. James C. DUNHAM, Jr., s/o James, Sr. & Anna Sands, b 1834; d 1864.
James married 1858 Darke Co., OH to Margaret Elizabeth SLONAKER.
They had 4 children, with the last being born following his death as a Civil
War P.O.W. at Andersonville, GA.
********************************************
3. James C. DUNHAM III, s/o James C. Dunham, Jr. and Margaret SLONAKER, b
1862; d 1952.
He married 1886 Darke Co., OH to Jennie A. WILLS.
********************************************
4. James C. DUNHAM, s/o Joseph Barnard DUNHAM (s/o Joseph DUNHAM & Mary
MILLER) & Catharine T. PORTER, b 1839 Miami Co., OH; d 1909 Miami Co., OH.
He married 1866 Miami Co., OH to Mary TOBIAS.
********************************************

********************************************
5. So how does this James C. DUNHAM who married 15 Dec. 1867 Darke Co., OH
to Frances J. GILBERT fit into this family?

Subject: [DCO] Cemetery Help
We quickly made a weekend trip to Ohio, and stopped while passing down the
road when I saw the East Zion Church Cemetery, Greenville Twp., Darke Co.,
OH sign and took some pictures of family stones.
Now...I see I have incomplete information. Don't know if an inscription
book exists or not, but if so, would appreciate the name for this stone
where the first name was probably present on the top of the stone as others
in the cemetery were found...but completely missed this name and the year is
barely visible on my photo.
Dau of
C. F. & Nettie
DUNHAM
Died
July 23, (looks like 1890)
Aged 5M & 21D
This child was dau/o Charles Franklin "Frank" Dunham and his wife, Nettie
Mae Wills.
Would appreciate help from anyone who may have the additional information.
