Defiance County Genealogical Society

News Release



The Defiance County Genealogical Society will meet Monday, September 23 at
7:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church, East Second Street, Defiance.
Francis Simonis will be the guest speaker. Mr. Simonis ancestors were early
settlers in the county and his talk will concern the history of Defiance.
The public is invited to attend.

In recognition of Family History month in October, the Defiance chapter is
sponsoring classes in genealogy in both Defiance and Hicksville. Classes in
Defiance began on September 10 and will continue weekly on Tuesday evenings
through October 15 at 7:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church. Payment of $15 for
the series may be made at the door. Participants are welcome to come to
some or all of the sessions. In Hicksville, Gladys Donson, local
genealogist, will be presenting a one day workshop on Saturday, October 26
from 1:00 4:00 P.M. at the Grace United Methodist Church, West High Street,
Hicksville. Preregistration is welcomed for this class by sending name and
$15 payment to the Defiance County Genealogical Society, PO Box 7006,
Defiance, Ohio 43512.
