Hi Sharon,

The earliest Scherer in my file is John, b. abt. 1862, who was
married to Anna Agnes Otte, b. 1866.
They had two sons, Edward, b. 1887, and Joseph, b. 1888.
Joseph married Amelia Anna Masanz in 1915.
Amelia was my grandmother's sister, so the Scherers are a cousin line for me.

I don't have enough information to make a connection. Did Mary
Elizabeth have any brothers?
