I wonder if we are looking at the same Cary line. My Stephen Cary had a son Stephen about that time Although they show up in Ulster County, Shandaken Township in the 1790 census. He also had a brother, Daniel, born in 1786. They show up living next to each other in several censuses. In the 1835 NYS census they are living in Tioga County, NY, Nichols Township, again living next to each other. By 1840, Stephen Jr, is gone, probably to Ohio. My problem is Stephen Cary, Sr. I can't find where he came from. I have his will that was filed in 1814 and his wife's name was Mercy (or Mary). Do you have anything on them? They may have come from Delaware state.
