Yes, I agree the people in Erie court offices have been the kindest and most helpful. I have only been there once but dealt with them many times through the mail. If only every place was that considerate!
Someone on the list told me a long time ago that while the law was in place to record births, deaths, etc., compliance didn't occur until around 1910 as a matter of course. While records may exist for earlier dates, there are no guarantees.
It was suggested that I try church records, those are more complete.
