Hello,
I am new to the Erie Co. list, as my research has just taken me here. (I
think!) <smile> Most recent generations use the FREY spelling, but I have
seen it FRY in some census and other records.
Looking for information on the following, believed to be living in the area
prior to 1870.
FREY, Joseph, b. circa 1816 in Germany or Switzerland (depending on the
census info you look at!)
m. circa 1849
to
REMLEY, Paulina, b. Aug 1823, Baden, Germany
Children
FREY, Joseph, b. circa 1850
Mary, b. circa 1852
Harman b. circa 1858
Rudolph, b. July 19, 1860 Sandusky
Albert, b. circa 1861
Frank, b. April, 1865 Sandusky
Sarah, b. circa 1866
Joseph FREY would be my great great grandfather, Frank my great grandfather.
I have located them in the 1900 Wyandot County census, the 1880 Wyandot
County Census, and the 1870 Seneca County Census. Thus any birthdates
"circa" are estimated from these records.
I have a record that states Rudolph was born in Sandusky, Frank was baptised
in Sandusky, so am assuming the family was in Sandusky at least until 1865,
but were in Seneca at the 1870 census.
As a newcomer to research in this county, would someone be kind enough to
share any info that they might have on this family, or give me direction as
to locating birth records, etc. This was primarily a farm family, so would
Sandusky be the place these records might be held?
Religion would be Catholic, so would also appreciate any direction or info
for Church records in this location.
Thanks so much for any help you may send my way.
Will be happy to reciprocate where I can.
Jane
