<<What additional information would one fine from the intent to apply and the
application paperwork that would not be found on the final certificate?>>
I have found the Naturalization papers on two ancestors - both in PA.
The actual Naturalization only has them on a list of people naturalized.
Does yours show more?
The Intent to apply includes:
>his age.
>where he is from - one only says Germany, the other says gives the town
where he was born. In one case the Intent was filed 6 years before the
application; in the other there was a lapse of 2 1/2 years.
>the date and Port when he landed in U.S. (these dates are not always totally
accurate because the Intent is being filed several years after the fact and
memories are not always accurate, but they're close.)
>he renounced their allegiance to their former sovereignty.
Other information in one of the application:
>tells how long he has been in the U.S. and how long in PA
>declares that he does not bear any heriditary title of nobility in his
former country and renounces any to which he may hereafter be entitled.
>states that he was heretofore a subject of William ______ (maybe premier) of
Hesse Cassel.
The other one is 3 pages - all of it almost unreadable on the film, but it
does give his month and year of birth.
