AFFLICTING BEREAVEMENT

Mr. J. H. Pearce, of this vivinity, reveived a week ago, from his brother, J. Wilson Pearce of Fort Wayne Indiana, who is well known in Lancaster, the sad intelligence that his only son, (two years and three months old), had died suddenly of diphtheria. This was followed Tuesday morning by a telegram saying that his only daughter (just past six years of age) had also been taken by the same dread disease. The sympathies of theri many friends in this community is extended to the afflicted parents in their utter bereavement.

A sad affliction has again visited the family of our respected citizen, J. W. Pearse, in the death of his little daughter Fannie D., aged two years and six months, that occured from Diphtheria on Tuesday morning last. The little girl was the granddaughter of Jacob C. and Mrs. Bowser, by whom she was idolized as their own child. The loss of little Fannie, the second and only child, is a terriable affliction, and sincerely mourned by the grief stricken parents, grandparents and all who knew the bright and intelligent little girl. The funeral was attended, at the residence of J. C. Boweser, No. 64 East Berry street on Thursday afternoon last at 2 o'clock, and the remains were buried in Lindenwood Cemetery.

The friends of Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Pearse throught the city were shocked and surprised yeaterday at the announcement of the death of Harry W., their thirteen year old son, who has been suffering for a few days with ceabro-spinal fever. Herry Pearse was a cheerful, bright and manly little fellow, and a favorite with his playmates and among the loder persons who knew him. Among all his acquaintances he was known as "the judge". The loss of the young boy who was the promise of such a splended young man, fills many hearts with sorrow, and Mr. and Mrs. Pearse have the most tender sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad affliction. The funeral will take place Monday at a time to be announced later.
