Help, Please!
I've got a dilemma with my Moores in Delaware County in 1820. I am
stumped on how 3 young boys (Isaac, Nathan and Leital/Lytle) came to be
Delaware Co, OH while both their parents were in CT!
I found this on the Morrow Co web site. It is part of a bio about
Nathan Moore.
>NATHAN MOORE, farmer and stockraiser; P. O. Sparta; was born in Orange
Co., N. Y., in1813; his parents, Isaac and
Clarissa (Wilcox) Moore, had the following family: Charlotte, Mary A.,
Isaac, Nathan, Lytle, Samuel and Elizabeth.
Nathan passed his early years on his father's farm. The father came to
Ohio in 1815, first settling at Lancaster.
After living in several counties at different times, he at last settled
in Delaware Co. >
Now, I have found Isaac and Clarissa Moore in Salisbury, Litchfield Co,
CT in 1820. In the household are 2 males under 10, 1 female 10-16, 1
female 26-45 (presumabley Clarissa), and one female infant.
Something isn't fitting together here. I am now looking for the
following Moore families in Delaware Co 1820 census to see if anyone had
young children that were not theirs: James J. Moore, James Moore,
Stephen Moore, Christopher Moore, Abraham Moore and Sidney Moore. If
any of their descendants are on this list, would you please contact me.
I'm now going to get some Tylenol Extra Strength for the headache I've
got from hitting this BIG brick wall.
