Debbie,
Didn't the younger Strickler fight in the Civil War. That would eliminate a
few years if you knew what years he was gone. Just a thought since a lot of the
men in Fairfield county fought in the war and were gone a few years. I think
I have seen this name in the war records of my great uncles.
Also you might see if the Historical society has any records of the stone
cutters you are talking about. There are 3 Stricklers in the Cemeteries of Walnut
Township. John's name is printed on the large part of Elizabeth's ( daughter
of John and Catherine) tombstone. But I don't think they know if this was his
stone or not maybe it means he carved it.
