Armstrong Allen married Jane McHenry in Madison County and then later came
to Fayette. I would look in Madison County for his father, as the Allen
family has been researched here quite a bit. There is no proof of a connection
between Adam and Armstrong. There is a Probate File here in the Fayette
Archives for Armstrong and it lists his wife and 6 of his eight(?) kids.
I say this with a question mark as earlier in the file it states he has
eight minor children, but later, only six are named. Mrs. Shaper, the other
employee here, tells me that all the sons of Armstrong served with the
same unit in the Civil War, but the actual unit escapes her. Also, she
tells me that the Clark County Gnealogical Society, some time ago, did
a feature article of Adam. That might be a good place to research. Write
to the Clark county GS for a copy of hte article. In the Probate of Armstrong's
estate, there is a debt mentioned that was owed to him by Aaron Allen,
and he IS Adam's son, but again, there is no proven connection.

Last, the reason that Jane and Armstrong are buried in two different cemeteries
is because Armstrong died young and was buried in what is now called the
Old Jeffersonville Cemetery. Simply put, the cemetery got full and they
started burying people in the "New" Jeffersonville Cemetary. Jane died
several years after Armstrong and they couldn't be buried together. She
is buried in the Jefferson/Jasper Township Cemetery. This cemetery is also
called the Koontz Cemetary.
