I finally heard from the IOOF Cemetary in Blanchester and all they could
give me was that his year of death was 1908. George had a private stone
on his grave, rather than the military one, but the man was able to also
tell me that George served in the military. He said that the record showed
him as a member of the military during the "Grand Army Republic War" which
he says was the Civil War. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he
fought for VA? I don't know, but the cemetery had no copy of his death
record nor did they know which mortuary buried him. I think George ahs
us all stumped... If I can find anymore, I'll let you know. And a thought
just occured to me that his oldest son lived in Greene County. Might he
have spent his last years with his son, George? Just a thought that you
might contact Greene County to see if they have his death registered?
