I am trying to sort out my Smith Family.

I have found that the family that I'm connected to
was living in Highland County in 1830/1840 (David SMITH)
There are also several other SMITHS, Archibald, Berry, and James
listed on pages near David's name.
In 1830, they lived in Paint Twp., HIGHLAND County, but in the
1820, all are found in Paint Twp., FAYETTE County.

Can some one straighten me out as how these two counties changed
their boundaries between 1820 and 1830?

I would assume that all these SMITHS did not just up and move
to the next county during that decade.
(and if any one has information on these SMITHS or another one
named Zebedee, found near them in the 1830 census) I'd be happy
to hear about them.
