I am researcbing the COUPLAND family that lived in the Wauseon area between
1860 and 1900.

Only Joseph of the first family is known to have come to America. I descend
from second family.

1 - William COUPLAND
Born - 10 Sep 1811 Friskney Parish, Lincolnshire, ENG
Died - 28 Sep 1886 Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH
According to Fulton Co., OH, death records, he died of Bright's Disease.
Unknown how many children William had by his first wife in England; names shown
here are from 1851 census where his first wife was shown as head of household
in Lincolnshire, ENG.
His immigration and family are discussed in the Fulton Co. ATLAS of 1875, where
his parents' names can be found. The ATLAS is also the source of his
birthdate.
In 1860 census, Fulton Co., OH, William was shown living with a woman named
Mary, no children. I cannot find a marriage record for William to Mary. She
might possibly have been the mother of the Charles & Milbert shown with William
in 1870 census, though she was shown as age 40 in 1860 census.

MARRIAGE: IGI shows a marriage of Ann Conyers to William Coupland 8 Jun 1835 in
Thorpe St. Peter, Lincolnshire, ENG
Ann was still living with her son Conyers in Spalding in the census of 1861.

Died - 15 May 1920 Paulding, Paulding Co., OH
Bur. - Live Oak Cem, Paulding Co., OH
BIRTH: IGI shows a Joseph Coupland born 10 Apr 1836 to William & Ann Coupland
in Friskney, Lincolnshire, ENG. Date used in this record from his obituary.
In EARLY BIRTHS, Paulding Co., OH, Part 1 - 1819-1867, there is an entry for
Joseph Coupland which reads: "b. 15 Mar 1836 in England, s/o William and Ann
(Conyards), m. Jan 1861, Deed 66, 1870 census." It is clear that Joseph
believed he was born in March; perhaps the April date is a Christening date.
MILITARY: served in Civil War, Co. I, 100th OVI, GAR marker on grave.

Parkhursts (including Lydia - age 83) were born in New York.

not living with Alice & her husband Herbert Ripley in 1900 census.
