Hi Anne:
I wanted to let you know I got in touch with the grandaughter of Virgil
Martin. I believe she said she had learned about me from you - but if
that's wrong, don't hold me to that, because I'm not sure of that anymore!
We have shared a lot of information which is fun!
I also thought I should let you know about this - I got in touch with
Frances Loucks Burnett, Lester Loucks daughter. She said she certainly was
not aware of any Klan activity, and she called her brother Frank & sister
Louise, and says they are totally mystified by a gown & hood being in the
house! She really doubts that he was a member of the Klan, due to the way
he taught them, and also, it would have had to have been kept a secret from
the 6 chldren because the three remaining are totally unaware of anything
like that. I wonder if the Klan gown & hood could have belonged to someone
else or been placed where you found them by someone else? I first asked my
Dad about it, and he said he highly doubted it, but had just meet him the
one time, just didn't seem like that kind of a guy,but he thought Frances
might know, and she says she doesn't believe it, so just thought I'd let you
now that!
I asked about Tom & Frances said he had some problems when he first got out
of WWII Navy, but has done well since then, isn't in prison in Columbus that
she knows of. She says he doesn't live to far from home, and they were
there about a year ago, so it seems like she probably should know - but I
don't know.
She says the condition of the Loucks Cemetery was upsetting to them also,
and that her brother Frank had offered to try & help with some type of
restoration, but she doesn't think anything was done. She is in her late
80's and Frank is right up there also, so they wouldn't be able to help
themselves. She was very nice - she knew my Grandmother Esther Loucks &
her sisters very well. Recounted several stories! It was exciting to make
contact.
Anyway, thought you might like to know about the above. Thanks for your
help! Lynda

Hi Lynda,
This is so weird >>>>> We once owned that property. Let me see if the old
papers that were in the house
are still there. Bert Loucks' belonged to the Klan; his gown and hood were
still there when we bought.
He has a daughter who lives in Columbus, OH. Later, Anne B. Thompson
