Hi Anne,
Please don't hurry with the ship information on my account. I know you're
busy. One thing about genealogical research is that it teaches patience. I
did find several ships from Wales at ISTG with passengers by the names of
Owens, Evans, and Davies. I was thinking that the ship I posted was maybe
the original Gallia Co. Welsh settlers ship which left Aberaeron, Wales in
1818. I know from transcribing some of those ships, that many coming from
Europe landed in Nova Scotia. My g-grandmother from Sweden had to go
through there. The Welsh 1818 ship is from an "Undesignated port". I
didn't find any from Aberaeron. The history of those first settlers says
"After traveling 250 miles they ran out of provisions and tied up their
rafts near the French settlement of Gallipolis..." They decided to settle
near there instead of going on to "Paddy's Run" because they were worn out
and the area reminded them of their native Cilcennin. In the historical
account I have, another 175 Welsh settlers emigrated in 1839, of which a
great many ended up in Gallia and Jackson Counties. Mary G.
