My Ggrandfather Hollis Sprouse was born in Kyger on Feb 18, 1882.
His parents were Nelson Sprouse and Mary Jane Thomas (m 1881).
Hollis' father was John A. Sprouse who, according to his obituary was
a United Brethern minister. John A. Sprouse married to Mary Jane
Swisher in 1848 in Gallia County. I wondered if anyone might have
run across these families, especially in the Poplar Ridge area where
some of them lived. Mary Jane Thomas was the daughter of William
Thomas, who is cousin to Washington Thomas (according to Civil War
pension file) although I don't know who William's father was. I also
do not know the parents of Mary Jane Swisher. Any assistance would
be greatly appreciated. Also, I have the Civil War pension files for
Reuben Thomas and Nathaniel Thomas, they are both over 100 pages. I
will be abstracting them and will post on the board when completed.
