I just came across an obituary for a relative from
Pleasants County, WV who married and moved to Gallia
County. Her obituary reads:

Dec. 22 , 1999 MARY E. SAYRE, 89, of Galipolis, Ohio,
died Dec. 18 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.
She was born Jan. 23, 1910 in Pleasants County to the
late Austin and Mariah Bailey Adams. She was a
homemaker and a member of Rodney United Methodist
Church and its quilters and the Grange and a former
member of the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by
one son, Thomas E. Sayre of Gallipolis; one stepson,
Charles L. Sayre of Millersburg, Ohio; one niece, Betty
Merry of Gallipolis; one brother, Don Adams and his wife,
Rose of Belmont; two sisters, Mable Wagoner of Ohio and
Sissy Matthews and her husband, Roy of St. Marys; one
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Sayre in
1985; and several brothers and sisters. Services will
be Tuesday at 1 PM at Willis Funeral Home in Gallipolis
with Pastor Arland King officiating . Burial in Ohio
Valley Memory Gardens.

Mary Sayre's parents were both descended from Austin
Bailey and Mariah Ellifritz,my great-great grandparents.

I found an obituary of ARTHUR CUNNINGHAM of Gallipolis, OH:

"St. Marys Oracle" -- St. Marys, WV 23 Mary 1985 ARTHUR
D. 17 May 1985 Arthur D. Cunningham, 60, of Gallipolis, OH,
died unexpectedly Friday, May 17, at Mt. Carmel Hospital,
Columbus, OH. He was born August 22, 1924, the son of Oliver
Clifton and Mary Jane Bailey , St. Marys. He was a truck
driver for Roadway Express; was a member of the First
Baptist Church Gallipolis; was a veteran of World War II;
and was former owner of Cunningham Feed and Supply.Surviving
are two daughters, Mrs. James (Barbara Ann) Hudson, Middleport,
OH, and Marilyn Sue Cunningham, at home; one son, David
Cunningham, Belpre, OH; five brothers, Clayton, Harvey, and
William, all of St. Marys, Harry, East Liverpool, OH, and James
of Florida; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Lola Pringle Cunningham who passed away
April 26, 1985. Services were held Monday, May 20, at the Willis
Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Burial was in the Ohio Valley Memorial
Gardens, Gallipolis.


Arthur is descended from my great Grandparents, Albert Bailey
& Mary Jane Steed of Pleasants County, WV
