Me too!

My gf was George Marion Houck, son of Jesse W or Warren Houck. Jesse W. and
Warren seem to interchange.

Jesse W Houck m Elizabeth M Hall on 18 Mar 1863 in Gallia County.

In the 1850 Census of Harrison Township of Gallia County, page 103: Henry
Hock, age 30, listed Spouse Elizabeth as 33, George was 16, Charles was 14,
Barbara was 12, Warren, age 10; Richard was 3; Vinton was 6 months.

Gf Geo M has no b record, but in Gallia's Record of Births, "Date of
Record" Oct 1867, a Jesse W Houck is shown as born of Jesse W and Elizabeth
Houck on 1867 Nov 31 (sic). Grandpa's b date was always considered to be Aug
1, 1867.

1870 Census of Clay Township, Gallia County, page 28 has Warren Houck , age
26, farm laborer; Elizabeth, age 24; Mary B, age 6; George M , age 3 and
John E, age 8 months.

Inasmuch as grandpa never learned to read or write, maybe his birth was
erroneously entered on the wrong date with his father's name used as the
name of the child.

Cousins and an aunt of mine near Columbus speak of Belle Houck m William
Cromlish. They also speak of a cousin of grandpa's, another George Houck
around Columbus in the old days.
