Subject: [OHGALLIA-L] BIRTH CERTIFICATE FEES TO INCREASE????
Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 15:10:03 -0400

Has anyone heard of a proposed law in the Ohio Legislature which supposedly raised the costs of copies of birth certificates to $15, and only certified copies will be made? At the Hardin County Genealogy meeting this past Monday, a member shared that when he went in to get copies of one of his ancestors' certificates he was told that there was a law proposed in the legislature and would probably take effect in June. This needs to be checked out. According to what the Hardin Co. Board of Health told him, various healt dept's. were being beseiged by requests from people for as many as 500 certificates at one time. Obviously some researchers lack common sense if this is true. However, at $15. a certificate, many researchers will not be able to secure some necessary documentation.

Has anyone one else heard this? Can someone check this out?
